Art Fight Tips

for when you haven't been attacked yet this year

Draw peoples' characters. Prioritise attacking the opposite team.

Look for characters and attacks you like and comment on them. You can find these through the home page on the recently uploaded characters and attacks. You can also search for characters using tags.

Follow any artists you'd like to draw the characters of.

Fill out the current year's Art Fight template and put it on your profile. Also post it to your socials with a link to your profile.

Always comment on art you recieve. I recommend commenting within a day if possible. People are more likely to attack you if they know you are active and show appreciation for attacks.

Share your characters, attacks you've drawn and your Art Fight profile link on the discord server.

Write an intro for yourself in the Art Fight discord Introductions channel. This will unlock access to more channels in the server. Then you can share your AF profile link in a channel for requesting to be attacked. It might help to mention not being attacked yet, your filled out art fight template, username, the team you're on, and some images of your characters.

Add more information to your profile. What team you're on, if it's your first year or how many years you've been taking part, your current status during art fight, eg. "sketching my second attack", what you like and don't like and character permissions, permissions for what people can and can't do with the art you draw for them, eg. "personal use is ok, commercial use is not", which characters belong to the same universes and projects so people know which ones can be drawn together, an art wishlist for drawings you'd like to see or for when people get stuck for ideas, characters relationships with each other and how they interract, contact details and links to socials so people can send you full quality art files, credit your socials if they post their art of your character or art you did for them, or so they can do art for you outside of artfight month.

Have a range of types of characters: humanoid, furry, animals, monsters, mecha, worms, fandom ocs, etc. And a range of aesthetics, like pastel, goth, cyber, etc.

Talk to your friends about Art Fight. They might want to join!

Tag your characters. What type of creature they are, what aesthetics they belong to, fandoms they're from, what colours you've used etc.

Make your online status public and refresh the artfight site at least once a day if possible during art fight month. People want to attack users that are active.

Don't remove characters or refernce images just before and during artfight. Someone might be planning to ttack that character or in the middle of drawing them and have no way to submit their attack then.

Put your ArtFight team in your social media handles and pin your artfight profile link so it's at the top of your page.

Don't delete art you've done for someone else even if you don't like it and it's old. You can change the thumbnail if you really hate it, but it was a gift for someone else so they be upset if it suddenly disappeared.

Keep your profile up to date, even if it's just to remove the previous year's team you were on or how many years you've been art fighting. They might not attack you if they think you're not taking part this year or are inactive.

Join a team early, just before or as soon as art fight starts. This way people can plan in advance who to attack if they're prioritising attacking a certain team and they'll know you're taking part. A lot f people will be gathering references before art fight begins because the website always crashes on the first day due to site traffic.

Join hitlists to put yourself on peoples' radars. These are google forms you can fill out for users looking for people to attack.
